IMAGINE  WHAT IS POSSIBLE!

The achievements of the students that have gone thru Julie Newton's
singing training program have far surpassed expectation.

As always I want my students to have fun in their lessons and feel confident in their progress. I create a positive, supportive environment while encouraging structured practice in order to acheieve the desired results.  I use methods that best fits the students ability and personality to succeed.

In voice lessons, we will begin correct breathing technics with  warm-ups that gently develope the voice and help you understand your voice and how to use it most efficiently to create a beautiful sound that is uniquely yours. Usually about half of my lessons are geared towards technique and various vocal exercises, while the second half is focused on the repertoire that will best give you the abiltiy to sing at top of your talents and develope the best style for you.  Since every step in your voice lesson is important, there is a lot of dialogue back in forth in my lessons. I ask my students frequently to describe what they feel, as it helps them to find those sensations again, after they articulate them aloud.

In piano lessons,  especially for the beginner I begin teaching finger numbers and postions and then moving into reading notes.  Rhythm is so improtant and that is taught every step of the way.  Along with learning games into my teaching I incorprate an Ipad app called Piano Maestro by Joy Tunes  in order to make learning fun and enjoyable and keep them engaged. I love discovering what students love about being involved in music, and using that to inspire them to practice and improve their playing.
