Book a Lesson with Robert Allen
Born in Jackson, MS, Robert started playing music in 7th grade with the local school band. Playing in the marching, concert, and jazz bands gave him a chance to excel as a trumpet player. Robert began performing professionally by age 16 and his fascination with horn bands lead him to begin transcribing and arranging popular tunes from groups like Chicago, Tower of Power, E.W.F, and Blood, Sweat & Tears.
Robert has studied trumpet, music education and recording at the university level, earning bachelor's and master's degrees from Mississippi College and Auburn University.
During high school and college, Robert toured with the Bluecoats and Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps as well as freelancing with local bands and churches. It was during this time that he took the job of Pit Director for the award winning Attache Show Choir, a job he has held since 1999. Robert has also been a high school band director/music teacher, teaching instrumental music, AP Music Theory, music production, jazz, and musical theatre.
In 2010, Robert launched an arranging business specializing in show choir, jazz band, and marching band works which now includes over 21 high schools from 8 different states, professional touring bands, Broadway musicals, and film/TV productions.
