The Drummer's Alphabet Camp

Drummers alphabet summer class

A comprehensive study on the 26 American Standard Drum Rudiments.

Recommended materials/supplies:

1. A pair of drumsticks: I recommend a hickory pair of sticks from any major manufacture such as Vic Firth, Promark, Vater, Zildjian, or Regal Tip. The size should be either 5A (medium), 5B (medium heavy), or 2B (heavy). If you’re unsure of what stick is best for you, go with the Vic Firth 5A. I prefer wood tips, but nylon (plastic) tips work just as well.
2. A practice pad: Or something you can hit that has rebound. A snare drum is fine if you have one, but a practice pad with a gum rubber surface is the best for practicing the drum rudiments in this course. Two that I recommend are: Vater Single-sided Practice Pad or The Rudi-Pad

If you can’t get a practice pad before the course starts, you can use an old wooden chair, just be sure you’re ok with it getting marked up from the sticks.
