Eastern European Fiddling

About Eastern European Fiddling

Have you ever wondered how to create the sobbing sound of Klezmer? Or the raucous perpetual motion of a Hungarian Verbunk? Or the upbeat trills of a Polish Krakowiak? And HOW on earth does one play a song in a 7/8 time signature? Or 11/16? Or 13/8? Try Eastern European fiddling! This class will encompass a survey of Eastern European fiddle styles, including Russian, Polish, Ukrainian, Klezmer (Jewish), Hungarian, Roma, Bulgarian, Macedonian, and Croatian, with specific ornamentations and techniques broken down so that they are easy for even a beginner to comprehend. Take your fiddling to the next level, or just expand your knowledge of violin technique, through this emotionally-charged fiddle music that is sure to get your fingers flying across your strings.
