Songwriting with Jake Bellissimo

We will look at the work of a number of different songwriters to examine the nuanced tradition of songwriting in the last 100 years.

By learning about the history of the artform, students build the skills for successful songwriting and start to create their own works.

ABOUT JAKE BELLISSIMO

My name is Jake Bellissimo. I am a professional American composer and songwriter who is based in Berlin, Germany, where I run the record label Drunk With Love Records and publish albums of my orchestral pop music. I am a classically trained violist and composer with a Bachelor's degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, but my current teaching schedule goes beyond my academic background. I also do research in musicology and give lectures on LGBT German music of the early 20th century. Teachers I have studied with include Moritz Eggert, David Liptak, Carlos Sánchez-Gutiérrez.

I teach lessons about a variety of topics including music theory, composition, musical theatre, musicology arranging, orchestration, songwriting, and guitar!
