Learning Songs by Ear with Lígia Silva
Learn your favorite songs by ear, step by step.
These lessons will cover group ear training exercises (using your instrument) and guided audition and transcription. Students may suggest songs to work on the lessons.
After a few lessons and some regular practice you'll be able to:
- Build your own exercises to train your ear while playing your own instrument.
- Use software to help you transcribe the songs you like.
- Find out the notes of the melodies you like.
- Play more independently from music scores, also working on your memory.
ABOUT LÍGIA SILVA
Lígia is a flutist and saxophonist, with professional experience on classical and jazz music. Graduate in classical flute and jazz saxophone, she studied in Portugal (ESMAE) and Belgium (Antwerp Conservatorium). With a master degree in musical education, she has been teaching kids and adults for the last 10 years. Along with a career on performance, she has done some original compositions exploring a mix of the jazz and classical genres. At the moment she is starting a PhD about the effects of music on our time perception.
Due to the current situation with Covid19, my son was cut off from his weekly sax lesson near our home, with an instructor he loved. I was desperate to keep him moving forward during this time of isolating. Through Lessonface we found Ligia, and I know this is not just a placeholder, it is even better than I could have expected. Ligia clearly has the experience and skills necessary to instill confidence and motivate - especially in a virtual environment.
