What is Music? Introduction to Music for Children

Whilst learning how to play an instrument is a rewarding experience, general musicianship is equally important! Whether your child already plays an instrument or not, when it comes to this class, it does not matter.

Students will learn about the 3 key elements of music, which are rhythm, melody and expression, through activities that incorporate movement, storytelling and play. If you would like to know how I will do it, watch this video I made https://vimeo.com/439747325/032b0d74b3.

In the video, the panda and the teddy bear compete to get the most points in a ‘clapping competition’, where the teacher claps a rhythm and they try and repeat it correctly.

Costanza Casullo

Costanza Casullo

Hello I'm Costanza! I have been playing classical guitar since I was 10 years old. I then started playing the ukulele and composing music in high school. I am originally from Italy but I studied abroad, gaining my undergraduate degree in Classical Guitar Performance at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and the Professional Master of Education at Trinity College in Dublin. This means that whilst I trained as a concert artist, my expertise extends to pedagogy and effective teaching strategies. I particularly enjoy teaching children and finding new creative ways to communicate my passion for music.

I learned so much in this first lesson. It was exactly what I was hoping it would be. I now have new direction for my practice, and Costanza was so helpful and friendly.
