About Introduction to Didgeridoo

The didgeridoo is an instrument developed by Aboriginal Australians more than 1,000 years ago. Originally used in traditional Aboriginal music, today the didgeridoo is used around the world in a variety of genres, including symphonic, folk, pop, jazz, and music for meditation.

Class Goals

  • - The didgeridoo: what it is, what are its origins, and how has it been established in popular culture and western music
  • - What is it made of and what are the options for choosing a didgeridoo
  • - How to produce the basic sound embouchure, posture, and breathing
  • - How to choose a mouthpiece, adjust it to yourself and to keep it clean
  • - How to generate rhythms, and add vocal sounds
  • - The use of circular breathing
