Oboe Fundamentals and Literature Camp

This camp will focus on developing fundamentals and technique on the oboe and learning the standard literature. Each camp day will be split into two 45 sessions- The first will involve full group participation, and students will learn to develop a comprehensive warm-up routine, including scales and long-tones, as well as work on developing vibrato and learning some extended techniques- including double tonguing, circular breathing, and experimenting with some harmonic fingerings and multiphonic fingerings!

The second 45-minute session each day will be conducted in a "masterclass" format. Individual students will be assigned standard literature to play in front of the class, and will be coached by me, the instructor. This will include Articulation Studies and Progressive Melodies from the Barret Oboe Method, standard orchestral excerpts, and standard solo repertoire. Assignments will be made first based on student request- Please send me a message if there is something you would like to play! It can be from the list below, or something you are currently working on with your private teacher! Those who are not playing on a specific day are encouraged to watch, listen, and learn!

Suggested materials: Barret Oboe Method, Vade Mecum of the Oboist
I will do my best to provide copies of the orchestral excerpts for those who do not have them- many are also available on IMSLP!

Possible orchestral excerpts:
oboe solo from "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky
Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4 movement 2- measures 1-21
