Sing mit! Introductory German for Kids
This drop-in class is geared towards children who want a fun introduction to the German language through singing popular German children's songs. Each week, we will get to know a different song. First, we will listen to it together by watching a video online. Next, we will talk about what the song is about, which words it contains and how they sound and look in German. At the end, we will sing the song together. The songs used in this class cover a broad range of child friendly topics (saying hello, numbers, colors, the German alphabet, weather and seasons, as well as holidays and special occasions, such as birthdays or Christmas).
Children taking this class should be able to read and spell simple words. Previous knowledge of German is not required, but helpful. The lyrics for the week's song will be provided at the beginning of class. Upon request, I can also announce the song for the following week, so participants can prepare ahead of time.
