About Add Ins with Charan Sachar

Want to push your art yarn to new levels with textures and unique items added to your yarn? Then this is the class for you. We will look into ways of adding items like scrap yarns, novelty yarns, sequins, buttons, and beads with core-spinning and plying to make stable yarns. Be open to experimentation and bring in your curiosity.


Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class

• Wheel with a large orfice (1/2” or more) to accommodate textured yarns
• At least 3 bobbins
• Lazy kate
• Lace crochet hook (small size like 10-14)
• Pen, Paper to take notes
• Niddy noddy and any additional spinning tools you prefer.
• Fiber will be provided, but students are also encouraged to bring any additional fiber prep (top, batts, rolags) they are curious to corespin
• Different Add-ins will be provided as well, but students are encouraged to bring any add-in they want to add into their yarns


Materials Fee (to be paid directly to the instructor) and Kit Description

$40 - includes fiber, core yarn, ply thread, and add-ins.

Skill Level

Advanced Beginner: Student should be familiar with their wheel and know how to spin a consistent singles and have plied a yarn.

Charan Sachar

    Charan Sachar is an artist whose work reflects his passion for the fiber arts, like knitting, spinning, weaving, quilting and he uses it as an inspiration for his clay work. In all the fields that he works in, he loves to accept challenges and approach the making with a “what if..” attitude. Charan specializes in creating art yarns with textures, using traditional spinning techniques and pushing them an extra step to create unique yarns. Charan has taught at the Daedalus Fly-in Spinning retreat, PlyAway and other local events in Washington State.
