Breaking Waves: My Approach to Weaving with a Fan Reed
About Breaking Waves: My Approach to Weaving with a Fan Reed
This lecture provides an introduction to the warp ondulé reed, also known as a fan reed. A brief history and findings from Amy's own research will be shared, as well as an artist's talk about highlighted pieces in her portfolio. Between lecture components, Amy will demonstrate from her home studio the fan reed in use. She will share in detail how she maneuvers the tool to create gently flowing waves using her own engineered approach.
The class fee includes a PDF booklet with instructions on how to build a supplemental breast beam, and and how to operate the loom when using it.
