About Flute Techniques 101
Are you a flutist wanting to brush up on the basics and fundamentals of flute performance and see what areas can be tweaked to get the best quality out of your playing?
There are certain fundamentals that are often overlooked but that play a vital role in stable flute performance.
A few of these are breathing, posture, and articulation. In this LessonFest program we will focus on these three specific fundamentals. There are common challenges in these three areas that can be broken down into simple steps and easily resolved to make technique easier and therefore quality of sound and performance superior.
We will utilize basic exercises and studies to work on these three areas and determine where each student can improve.
This class is limited to 40 students.
Class Goals
- 1. Learn the proper way to breath as well as breath control.
- 2. Check our posture to make sure our sound is developing and projecting properly and that there is no strain on our bodies due to incorrect positioning.
- 3. Articulation - break down the basic forms of articulation and work on clarity, duration, and style of our articulation depending on how we want our sound to be.
- 4. Share with fellow students tips and tricks that we find helpful.

My name is Jordana Machado, flute teacher and passionate musician who would love to help you achieve your goals ;)! I hold a Bachelor´s Degree in Music with an emphasis in Flute Performance as well as Harvard Certification in Baroque Music. I have been giving private flute instruction for the last five years to students in a range of ages, from children to adults.
