About Introduction to Music Notation with MuseScore

Introduction to Music Notation with MuseScore is a beginner-friendly class designed to introduce students to the basics of music notation using the popular software, MuseScore. Topics we will explore: software navigation, note entry and editing, score formatting, playback, file sharing.

This class is ideal for musicians, composers, educators, and enthusiasts who are new to music notation software and wish to learn how to create, edit, and share musical scores digitally.


Class Materials

- Personal computer or laptop with MuseScore software installed (MuseScore is available for free download)
- Headphones or speakers for audio playback
- Optional: MIDI keyboard for inputting notes (not required but recommended for enhanced note entry)

Class Goals

  • Goal 1: Become comfortable navigating MuseScore's interface and understand its basic functionalities.
  • Goal 2: Develop proficiency in creating and editing musical scores using MuseScore.
  • Goal 3: Ability to Share and Export Musical Scores.

No prior experience with music notation software is required. This class is open to absolute beginners who have a basic understanding of music notation concepts.
