About Learn to Knit, Beginner Knitting for Kids
Do you love to work with your hands? Do you enjoy creating soft and cute toys such as animals, book covers and bags?
Then this class is for you!
In our beginner knitting for kids class, we will focus on learning to knit while making simple projects including a knit flag, a simple dog, an owl and a simple butterfly shape We will go over the basics of learning to cast on stitches, the knit stitch, the purl stitch, basic increases and decreases, and how to bind off stitches. At the end of the course, you will be confident putting stitches on your needles, working knit and purl stitches to make objects and how to properly finish your project.
This course is designed for new knitting students aged 9-13 or any older students you may be interested in learning the very basics of knitting and crochet.
Class Materials
- 1 pair U.S. 10/5mm; 7-10 inch length knitting needles
- 1 large eyed yarn needle for weaving in ends
- 1 pair of craft scissors
- 1 bag polyester fiberfill toy stuffing
- Several pieces of felt in various colors
Class Goals
- Goal 1 - Learn how to cast on stitches on your needle and knit the knit stitch.
- Goal 2 - Learn how to bind off stitches to finish your work.
- Goal 3 - Learn how to weave in ends.
