Smartphone Storytelling
Smartphone Storytelling with Stephen Knifton
You can work for a corporation, thrive as a creative entrepreneur or do anything in between. But one thing is certain: if you’re entrusted with a brand or promoting your craft and skills -- everything begins and ends with social media.
We showcase our art and design, celebrate our creativity, market our products, develop an audience and build our business by strategically using TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and a dozen more social platforms.
So learn how to create and produce the kind of content that engages the different audiences on those platforms: using only your smartphone, and a few (free) creative apps.
Class Goals
Goal 1: Learn to understand the different audiences on the different social media channels, and the distinct kinds of digital content they engage with and respond to.
Goal 2: Understand and develop a strategy for making social media content that shows off the essence of your craft/brand, no matter what its size. Essentially, we're re-learning how to tell our own stories for the vast audience connections that social media can provide.
Goal 3: Learn how to shoot and produce, format, and graphically design that content right in our smartphones, and publish quickly and regularly to social media.
This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.
