About

I am a Professionally Certified New York State Music Teacher with over twelve years of teaching experience. Working as a collegiate private vocal instructor, a public-school music teacher, and as a Music Together teacher leading classes for parents with infants and toddlers has helped me to understand all facets of music education. I am gifted with extreme patience, a caring, nurturing disposition, and an ability to coach students through emotional challenges as they relate to singing in order to help them become the best performers they can be. I enjoy working with students at different levels and abilities to teach techniques that show students how to sing with increased breath support and have greater freedom to stretch their vocal range. As a singer and actress, I also teach my knowledge of crafting an authentic, heartfelt performance through song and enjoy singing and teaching many different styles of music, including jazz, musical theater, classical music and popular music.

My teaching style is based on making the student feel comfortable. If a student is not at ease, they will not be able to sing properly. I work with beginner students as well as more advanced students, but I treat all students with the same level of respect and patience regardless of their ability. My methods include warm-ups that help teach breath support and vocal placement to stretch vocal range and ease vocal tension that can then be applied to songs. I also help students learn breathing techniques and coping mechanisms to help them deal with performance anxiety.

I am a New York State Music Teacher with Professional Certification. My bachelor's degree from Five Towns College is in Jazz/Commercial Music with a Musical Theater/Vocal Concentration and my master's degree from Queens College is in Music Education. I taught voice lessons at Five Towns College for ten years. In addition to being a music teacher, I believe that it is important to stay active as a performer. My credits include Josephine in H.M.S. Pinafore with The Gilbert and Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island, Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls with The Spotlight Players, Snow White in Snow White at Bayway Performing Arts Center, and the Blue Fairy in Pinocchio at The Dix Hills Performing Arts Center. I was also a featured soloist with The South Shore Syncopators, a 1920s and 30s dance band, which included performances at Music Mountain in Falls Village, Connecticut, and the Bickford Theatre in Morristown, New Jersey. Currently, I sing with The Jewel Tones, Long Island's premiere vintage vocal trio, performing music from the 1920s through vintage inspired hits from today. I enjoy teaching because it allows me to share my passion for music with my students and inspire them to find their own love of music.
