About

Dr. Nathan Ingrim is a professional oboist and educator from Central Texas. He began his musical studies at an early age, studying both oboe and piano. As a performer, he has won numerous awards and made his Carnegie Hall solo recital debut in the spring of 2019. He is currently based in Dallas, Texas and is an active freelance musician. Dr. Ingrim has performed in the oboe sections of such ensembles as the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, The Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra and recently served as an Associate member with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago during the 2019-2020 seasons.

Dr. Ingrim maintains a thriving oboe studio in North Texas. Many of his students have gone on to pursue music performance degrees with notable universities and conservatories. Additionally, he serves as a board member for the Emerge Coalition New Music Festival and Composition Workshop.

Dr. Ingrim is currently pursuing a Performer’s Diploma with Erin Hannigan of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He holds prior performance degrees from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, Baylor University and Florida State University College of Music. He is a alumni of the National Orchestral Institute Festival, Eastern Music Festival, The Berlin Opera Academy, The Hot Spring Music Festival, among others.

Nathan is extremely passionate about new music for the oboe as well as music that combines oboe with small ensembles and multimedia. He is currently pursuing several commissions to be presented Summer 2021 at national conventions.

Dr. Ingrim has taught numerous students from beginner to collegiate. Additionally, he works as Teaching Artist with the Dallas Symphony El Sistema programs. He is experienced teaching all levels of expertise  and age groups. He places high priority on tone control and consistency and will work to build these qualities in his students!
