I teach all kinds of people how to play the trumpet including children and adults, come back players, hobbyists and serious players. While aspiring professionals will see a lot of technical and specific practice material, hobbyists will see a little bit of that and a lot more of the stuff they're interested in. Just don't forget that in order to play the trumpet at any level, every player must spend at least a little bit of time daily on fundamentals.

Today, I am a successful full time private trumpet instructor and I love my job. Members of my studio have advanced in chair placements at their schools, won auditions into county/state honor bands and have been accepted into college music programs.

Don’t worry, we will take each week at a time and set expectations based on your schedule. I know children have soccer, dance, school, tennis, drama and even chess. Everyone has different needs and goals...and that's totally ok. Adult players are also busy with work, kids, soccer games and more. So don't sweat it, I will expect as much as you can give.

More fundamentals = Better playing = More fun

  • Sheryl Linch-Parker has a Doctor’s  degree in music education with a secondary emphasis in trumpet performance, vast playing and teaching experience, and has a wealth of professional playing experiences and recordings.
  • My philosophy revolves around dynamic lessons and creating a trumpet "workout" that works for you.
  • Learn trumpet online from the comfort of your home.
  • Flexibility is key! Choose the length of lesson that will fit your schedule, need and level of playing.

Outside of private trumpet lessons I strive to share my knowledge through a variety of mediums. I am a Jupiter XO artist. Jupiter is one of the most well-known companies for trumpets.

Let’s see…a few facts about me. On my down time I love practicing trumpet, reading books, collecting clowns, and playing computer games. I also enjoy yoga and walking, as well as learning new things.

Learning to master the trumpet is fun, time-consuming, exciting, tiring, empowering, mind-draining, ego-boosting, relaxing…the list goes on. It also requires discipline, desire, inspiration, self-motivation, a good work ethic, patience, and passion.

TRUMPET METHOD BOOKS

The Methods/Etudes and Solo sections of the attached document are a starting place for my trumpet students. These can be used several years, and will be selected for the appropriate level and interest of the student. Other materials at the appropriate level can also be substituted based on the goals of the student.
