About

Lessonface Trombone Teacher of the Year 2023. I am a trombonist and music educator from the Dominican Republic. As trombonist, I have performed in some renowned ensembles like the National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic, India National Youth Orchestra and others. As music educator, I have previous experience conducting a middle school band program and teaching brass instruments for more than 5 years. Currently, I am finishing my Master in Music degree at University of Central Florida.

My teaching style is based on the Song and Wind philosophy of the renowned tubist Arnold Jacobs. In my classes breathing and singing are essential in order to get a centered sound in the instrument. Furthermore, I emphasize in developing flexibility and clear articulation in trombone playing.

For music theory my teaching style is dynamic. I emphasize music terms and music reading in my lessons.

I have previous experience as brass instructor in a middle school band for 5 years and teaching trombone and music theory private lessons for 8 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo. My experience as performe includes: National Symphony Orchestra of the Dominican Republic, India National Youth Orchestra, Summer Trombone Workshop, Orquesta Juvenil Centroamericana y del Caribe and many others.

In my classes I start by doing some stretches to prepare the body, then we go to the breathing exercises, then tuning check by singing and the play. My recommended student texts are Arbans Method, The Remington Warm Up Studies, Phrasing Studies by Cimera, Melodious Etudes by Rochut and others related.
