About

I am a professional modern and Baroque violinist and a passionate violin teacher. I have more than 22 years of experience in violin performance and I have been a teacher for more than 8 years having taught students of all levels and ages ranging between 5 and 65. I am a prize winner in international violin competitions with regular concerts in the UK and the US and my students receive regular Distinctions and Merits at the UK Grade exams and perform regularly in their communities and local orchestras.

As a violinist, I have had the opportunity to perform in major venues such as St Patrick’s Cathedral, New York and Leeds Town Hall, Leeds and I have extensive experience playing both as soloist and as a member of a chamber group or orchestra.

As a violin and music teacher, I am experienced in delivering one-to-one lessons and leading small and large ensembles. I have worked privately and also collaborated with established international educational programs in such as the Royal Northern College of Music Young Strings, the Manchester International Society and the Artis Education Program in the UK, as well as the Antigua Music Camp in Antigua and Barbuda.

As a Spanish teacher, I shape my teaching according to my own experience with learning and speaking Romanian, English, Spanish, German, Italian and a little bit of French and Portuguese myself. This helps me have a deep understanding of what it takes to grasp a new language, what the challenges are and what the fastest and most efficient ways of learning are. Passion about languages, communication and music, empathy and a deep desire of helping my students whilst always caring about them are my core drives in my journey as an educator.

I am a teacher because I really love helping people learn and I get the greatest satisfaction from watching my students improve. I approach my teaching with great enthusiasm and total flexibility and I design each second of each lesson according to what I fell would help my student most in that very moment and not to what I want to or what I had prepared to teach. I am patient, attentive and always curious about my students' points of view, about their interests and their goals. I particularly enjoy problem-solving, so finding answers to my students' questions and solutions to their struggles along the way brings me enormous joy.

In every lesson, I balance the technical and the musical training in such a way that my students enjoy themselves whilst learning everything they need to know to play with more and more ease everyday.  I am always open to ideas about the music they want to learn and I support them fully to pursue what they love. My additional experience in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais and Kodály Methods helps me to have a creative and body and mind friendly approach to my teaching and therefore to encourage my students to develop not just instrumentally, but also more broadly as musicians and human beings.

I pursued a Performer Diploma degree at the Jacobs School of Music (US) and hold a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Violin Performance from the Royal Northern College of Music (UK).
