Spinning For A Project: How to plan and execute a project using your handspun with a commercial pattern
About Spinning For A Project: How to plan and execute a project using your handspun with a commercial pattern
Spinning with the intention to create handspun yarn for a project might seem like a daunting task if you've never done it before, or worse if you tried and were disappointed with the results. Alanna will show you how to get your handspun to be suitable for any project you wish to create.
You might have questions like:
• What fiber should I start with?
• How can I spin consistently throughout the project?
• How will I know if my yarn will be a good match for my project?
• How much fiber do I need for this project?
• How will I know how the colors will turn out after I spin this dyed fiber?
This workshop will answer those questions by showing you:
• How fiber choices influence yarn outcomes
• How fiber preparation and drafting methods influence how your yarn functions and looks
• How twist and grist affect your finished yarn and fabric
• How color choices can influence your final project outcomes
• Plying techniques to achieve the yarns you desire
• How body mechanics influence yarn outcomes
• How to analyze a pattern and the recommended commercial yarns to use your handspun as a substitute
This class is limited to 18 students.
