Dana Cullen
About
Dana is a freelance musician in the Dallas area. She has her Master of Music degree from Rice University and Bachelor's degree from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Dana enjoys teaching piano and horn students of all ages, and draws from her previous training to adjust to each students needs and desires. While living in San Antonio and playing with the San Antonio Symphony, Dana had a full piano studio with students from the age of 5 to 50.
Dana uses the Faber Lesson books to teach her piano students, as well as a scale and arpeggio regimen. Dana believes learning scales with the proper fingerings is very important for piano skills. In terms of horn, Dana focuses on playing with a good sound and using the proper air flow, setting up good habits from the beginning of a student's education. However, she also incorporates games and songs to keep the lessons fun!
