Elena Caccamo
About
Hello! I’m Elena and I’m an Italian Opera Singer :)
My operatic singing career has marked its 20th anniversary in 2022 as I started when I was just a kid at La Scala in Milan. Nowadays I work as a professional mezzosoprano all around the world.
I’ve been training children and adults in vocality for 10+ years, especially helping with auditions and tests. On top of that I have 6 years of full-time online teaching: I can now say with confidence that I have the knowledge and the methods to successfully guide you through your own journey into learning singing online.
I love teaching: it allows me to share my experience with somebody that needs it and it helps me learn something new too. I’m completely sure that teaching makes me a better singer every day.
The 3 main subjects I teach are:
1) opera singing (15/16+)
2) kids’ vocality (4/5+)
3) music theory, ear training and solfège
Within these subjects, all ages and levels, even absolute beginner, are welcome!
Everybody is different, so everybody has its own path to go through; I cater my lessons on the pupil’s needs, and even if the method is always classical, I make sure that the hour of lesson is a positive moment as well as a learning experience.
Want to know more? Here you can read my teaching bio:
My career started very young at the age of 7, when I was admitted to the Choir of the city of Milan. The following year, after obtaining my first solo parts, I joined the Children Choir of the Conservatory G.Verdi and the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, where I worked successfully for the following 10 years, growing up as a person and singer through theater and music.
I studied viola and singing at the same Conservatory, graduating with honors. My training also includes several EQF 8 Masters in singing and theater.
My journey as a teacher began 10 years ago, when I left the Choir: I was prompted by La Scala’s Academy to train the future young choristers eager to try the audition. That's how I started teaching children.
It was not long before I started giving lessons to adults as well, and with the advent of the pandemics I inevitably moved my teaching online. This experiment proved not only possible, but encouraging as well: my students didn’t need to stop completely their studies, and furthermore continued progressing! This positive experience made me invest further in this sector and this is why in the last 5 or so years I have taught online about 300 students amongst adults and children from every corner of the earth.
I learnt to find new techniques to teach singing by overcoming the distance barrier. I am delighted to share that the responses I have received have consistently been positive. As a result, I have successfully prepared several of them for auditions at esteemed music schools and colleges.
At the same time, I haven’t abandoned the analog world. I currently work as a children's vocals teacher at the SIMM - International School of Music in Milan and as an external expert at the G.Berchet State Classic High School in Milan as well as at the E.Montale Higher Education Institute of Cinisello Balsamo in musical and theatrical training. I conduct campuses, seminars, and consultations in the fields of music, theater, and self-development for various organizations, including the Institut Francais. In addition, starting from 2025 I renewed my co-operation with AsLiCo, moving from the artistic sector to the education sector as a trainer in primary and lower secondary schools.
Teaching Style
I have been teaching since I left the Children Choir of La scala: I was asked by the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala to train future young choristers keen to try the audition. This is how I started teaching little kids. I then continued in my hometown preparing successfully kids for the same kind of auditions. In the meanwhile I studied to become a professional singer.
Later on, I started giving lessons also to adults interested in singing for the most different reasons.
At the beginning of the pandemic, I moved my teaching online with my previous students. This experiment proved possible and also successful in a period when we were all locked in our apartments: my students were not only able to keep up their work but also to improve and make remarkable progress. For this reason I eventually decided to take it further and apply to online teaching platforms. Since last fall, I’ve been teaching to adults, teens and kids online. This experience has increased my ability in finding new techniques to teach how to sing overcoming the barrier of not being in same room together. I am proud to say that I have had a fantastic retaining response from my students so far, I have successfully prepared some of them for auditions into prestigious music schools and colleges.
Nowadays I am confident to have method, material and knowledge to successfully teach online: I take my time to learn everyday from my experience how to become better and better at it.

Here is what my students say about me:
"Aside from Elena's magnificent talent, she is relatable, reliable, and nice. She successfully coached our 10 year old on her first solo performance at a private event. She truly is awesome." Stephanie
"Elena will find a way to teach you how to sing, even if you think that you cannot do it. With patience and creativity, she has explored different methods to train my ear, broaden my vocal range, use my anatomy to produce clear musical tones, and gradually tackle compositions from famous composers. She also teaches my daughters, working on a repertoire of medieval gregorian chant in partnership with their musical appreciation teacher. We highly recommend Elena as your singing teacher for your family, no matter the skill level!" Mauricio
"Ms. Elena is an excellent singing teacher for our daughter. She is a good vocal role model. Ms. Elena is a gifted singer; she shares the best advice. Her love for teaching is evident in her enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. Ms. Elena is always highly engaged during the lessons. She provides feedback, notes, and assignments after every class. We feel incredibly fortunate to have a vocal teacher of her caliber to teach our talented daughter. We highly recommend Ms. Elena as a vocal instructor." Elisa
"I hired Elena to help me with a college audition in an American University, and it didn’t take long for me to notice that her approach to teaching was different. Professional is its core, she has the skill and the experience, but with that, she also brings to the class a palette of other work ethic colors like Empathy, Laughter, Efficiency, Nice, Ability, Honesty, Detail. After our last lesson, I felt more than ready for my audition. Not only I got in, but I also received an annual scholarship award. I highly recommend her!" Rose
