About Awesome Angora – Preparing, Blending and Spinning Rabbit Fiber and Blends
.Do you love angora fiber and rabbits, but are unsure where to start when working with it? Or maybe you have angora from your pet rabbits or some you were given and wonder how you can use it. Angora is unique among the luxury fibers for its softness and warmth. Its relatively shorter length (compared to many wools) and slickness can make it more challenging to prepare and spin. This workshop will focus on techniques to make angora easier to utilize.
What will students learn:
Basics of angora fiber preparation using hand cards and blending board, as well as techniques for blending angora and spinning fiber, pure and as blends, as well as characteristics of blends and how to pick the right blend for your purpose or project
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
Spinning wheel or spindle for the spinning part, alternatively students can practice fiber prep and blending skills and bring their samples home to spin. Hand cards and fiber prep tools will be provided by the instructor; students may also bring their own if they wish.

What skills or knowledge do students need to take this workshop?
This is an advanced beginner level class for the spinning part. Students should already have a wheel or spindle they are comfortable using and plan to bring it with them unless they only want to focus on the fiber preparation part.
