About Introduction to Rigid Heddle Weaving
Have you ever wanted to try weaving? In this class you will start your journey into the world of weaving. We will go step by step through the process of preparing the loom, weaving, and finishing techniques.
During the workshop we will also discuss, various looms, types of yarn for weaving, how to determine what size reed to use, shrinkage and even some practical color theory.
Come, have fun and explore the basics of weaving.
What will students learn:
The class will start with an introduction to weaving terms, types of looms and various yarns. Participants will learn how to put yarn on a loom, practice various weaving techniques (hem stitching, leno lace, clasp weaving, Danish Medallions) and weave a wall hanging sampler or set of mug mats.
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
The instructor will provide a rigid heddle loom and yarn for each participant. If you have a rigid heddle loom you would like to bring please contact the instructor before class.

Margery Erickson
Margery has a Master's Degree in Education and taught high school special education for over 30 years. In the early 1990's she took several classes in weaving. One weaving class, one yard of fabric and she was hooked. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman and is a Master Artisan in Handweaving.
