Leaf Motifs for Knitters and Crocheters

About Leaf Motifs for Knitters and Crocheters

Leaves make wonderful motifs to use in knit and/or crochet projects or on their own as appliques, facecloths, or home decor. This class will get you started with a pattern to follow, but it will cover ideas and techniques for altering and improvising on the pattern to create variety. Participants can choose between the knitted garter stitch leaf or the crocheted leaf, or they can do both. Lisa will have freeform samples on hand for inspiration on embellishing your leaves and using them in freeform fabrics.

What will students learn:
Knitters will learn how to make a mitered square leaf that can be altered and improvised upon. Crocheters will learn how to make a spiral leaf that can be altered and improvised upon. Using leaves in freeform fabrics and embellishment techniques will be discussed.

Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class

You can choose yarns with a future project in mind, or you can focus on making leaves in colors that strike you at the moment.
