Secrets of the Turkish Spindle
About Secrets of the Turkish Spindle
Step into the world of Turkish spindles, where a clever low-whorl tool packs a powerhouse of creativity. Learn to start without a leader, balance twist, wind mandalas, ply efficiently, troubleshoot challenges, and use clever travel tips. See how spindle weight, shaft, and arm design shape your yarn, and compare Turkish spindles to other types. Make your spinning efficient, consistent, and repeatable. Bring your spindle and leave inspired, confident, and ready to spin in new ways.
Supplies, Equipment & Materials Needed for Class
• A Turkish spindle
• See https://askthebellwether.blogspot.com/2013/09/how-do-you-make-turkish-spindle.html to make one if needed.
• An ounce of wool roving or top to spin in class; great if it’s several colors; or other fiber you are comfortable spinning on a suspended spindle.
• Other fibers you have questions about - or just the questions if you don't have those fibers at hand.
• Some already spun singles if you want to have plenty for plying, compatible with the fiber you are going to spin.
