About Spinning Easy and Elegant Artisan Yarns
Have you ever been curious about spinning art yarns? If you can spin a simple single, you’re ready to explore some of the most beautiful yarns! We’ll learn various single techniques, including core spinning, one of the most versatile methods out there.
In this session, we will explore thick and thin spinning, plying, and using mulberry silk lap in our art yarns. We'll also experiment with special effects by incorporating long, curly Teeswater or Wensleydale locks. Plus, we’ll spin mohair and other curly breeds straight from the lock and discover how to add fun inclusions to our yarns.
Join us to start creating stunning, unique yarns perfect for weaving, knitting, and even couching and trimming. Don’t forget to bring your wheel and some empty bobbins—get ready to unleash your creativity!
What will students learn:
Basic corespinning techniques, spinning locks, fat singles, thick & thin slub, beehives, beaded plying, spiral plying
Materials, Equipment, and Supplies the Student Must Bring to Class
Spinning wheel with at least three empty bobbins, large flyer recommended, Various Fiber: batts, combed tops, locks, threads for plying
Materials Kit and Kit Description

Pre-class Homework
Empty off at least the bobbins
