Wool Embroidery, Tree of Life
Wool Embroidery, Tree of Life with Laura Berlage
Known as “long and short,” “thread painting” or “silk shading,” this beautiful embroidery technique can be elusive and tricky, but greatly rewarding once mastered. This class is designed to give you that mastery, whether when starting the stitch, feathering from one color to the next, or combining or splitting shapes. Slip into the Zen-like feel of the process as you gain confidence and stitch a beautiful design in wool embroidery yarn from the instructor’s sheep. Students will also explore stitching on a decorative fabric (damask) with a muslin backing for stability. This class is designed for students who have taken Laura’s Wool Embroidery Level-2 course or intermediate experienced stitchers.
This small group class is presented in collaboration with John C. Campbell Folk School and Lessonface. Participants should enroll at least two weeks before start to ensure materials kits arrive in time. If registering after this point, your kit may arrive after the first session. Students are invited to attend an optional Orientation and Closing Ceremony to connect with various online Folk School classes.
