The World of Computer Weave Drafting

About The World of Computer Weave Drafting

This class will allow beginning computer drafters the time and patience to comfortably enter the world of weave drafting at minimal cost and with the confidence to start designing immediately. I use FiberWorksPCW and participants can use a ‘demo’ download at no cost, though the tools used are fairly universal for most drafting programs.

We will review basic tools, then develop templates and apply patterns and colors in the first session. The second session will introduce utilizing designs from other resources and applying the concepts of turning a draft, networking, and use of the intermediate tools for more advanced work. The last session will utilize upper-level tools like profile drafts and block substitution, digitizing, telescoping, and interleaving.

Participants will have time to practice and play between these sessions so that they can be prepared to make the best use of their newly acquired talents.

Class Materials

- Participants will download a demo version of Fiberworks PCW SILVER for the class unless they already have one. The download is free. I’m happy to assist individuals well before the class time with this.
- Participants should consider having one computer to view the lessons and a second for drafting concurrently, or to use a large monitor with both Zoom and Fiberworks open. Participants might consider gathering around a shared monitor.

During my federal career, I maintained a small business in weaving, dyeing and loom rehabilitation and presented guild programs and workshops in those subjects. Moving to Washington State and retirement offered me the opportunity to teach workshops for larger venues, in addition to local guilds.
