A Taste of Texture
About A Taste of Texture
Having trouble with creative ruts or simply losing interest on a current spin? Let's liven things up by exploring texture! What does texture have to do with it? Incorporating texture is one of the ways spinners can apply visual interest while preparing fiber, during the spinning and plying processes. Materials such as silk, Angelina, and wool neps can be used for texture, but those are not the only options for spinners. There are many unconventional ways to add texture to your spinning. Join me for a taste of texture and let’s say goodbye to those creative ruts as well.
This lecture-based session is especially designed to give you a taste of texture by showing you:
1. how to create textured preparations without the use of equipment.
2. examples of texture with the use of fiber equipment.
3. how to create 'instant' texture at the wheel (or spindle).
Warning: After this session, you just might want to raid your stash, bits and bobs of yarn scraps, and bring more textured handspun yarns into stash. See you there!
Suggested Class Materials:
* 1-2 oz of clean fleece or commercial wool for blending
